A Will County man in his 60s is the first person to come down with West Nile virus in Illinois in 2017. The Illinois Department of Public Health yesterday confirmed the case. IDPH Director Nirav Shah said the man became sick at the end of June.
Human West Nile cases start to pop-up in July, but will peak in late August and early September when more people are outside at dusk. Shah says you should wear long sleeves and/or bug spray to better your chances of not getting sick.
