A 60-year old Ohio man suffered fatal injuries Saturday morning following a crash at the Byron Dragway off North River Road.
Bradley Glass from Mason, Ohio was pronounced dead at the scene by the Ogle County Coroner.
Ogle County Sheriff's Police report that Glass was driving his drag car and was making a pass down the track. He lost control of the vehicle after crossing the finish line.
The car crossed over the track and struck the grass embankment. The vehicle rolled over several times as Glass was ejected from the drag car.
The accident remains under investigation.
Officials from the Byron Dragway released a statement following the crash. They say that the staff of Byron Dragway and the entire racing community extends their deepest sympathies and their prayers to the participant's family and friends.
