Council narrows down list of candidates for city manager on Monday night

The Rochelle city council expects to narrow down the list of candidates Monday night for the city manager's position.

29 individuals applied for the job which included 2 city employees.

The city is looking for a replacement involving David Plyman who was not rehired last March. Sue Messer is the current interim city manager.

During this week's program "Let The People Know", Rochelle Mayor Chet Olson talked about the background of the candidates for the position. He said most have either worked in a city position or the business world. The top city official said it would help the candidate if they did work in a city as part of their background.

Mayor Olson said that once the council narrows down the candidate's list to 10, they will then choose the top 5 who will be interviewed at a later date.

The city has until September 22nd under state regulations to name a new city manager.

"Let The People Know" is heard on Wednesday afternoon at 12:30 on Good Time Olides 1060 and rebroadcast Saturday morning at 6:30 on WRHL and Sunday morning at 6:30 on "The Coyote".

Next week's guest will be RTHS Superintendent Jamie Craven who will be leaving the district on July 1st for the same position in the DeKalb school district.
