Officials in the Eswood school district have decided to take down the wind turbine which was built in 2012.
Since it was installed, the wind turbine has yet to produce any electricity for the grade school.
The school board decided this week to remove the turbine after lightning struck and damaged the blades this spring. Scraps from the structure fell to the ground.
School officials are currently working out an agreement with Rock Wind LLC to take the wind turbine down before students return to the classroom in August. The company owns the turbine.
