(RTHS Superintendent Jason Harper)
The Rochelle Township High School Board has named Jason Harper as their new superintendent. He replaces Jamie Craven who was hired earlier this month as the superintendent of schools in DeKalb.
Harper, who starts his new job at RTHS on July 1st, has been principal in the district since 2013. He has been on the staff since 2011.
Harper taught at the Chana School and in the Harlem school district prior to Rochelle. He is also a 2003 graduate of RTHS.
Harper said he is excited about his new job and looks forward to the transition period at RTHS. It means a lot to him have this position since he grew up in Rochelle.
RTHS officials also named Chris Lewis as the new principal. He has been at RTHS since 2001 and named assistant principal in 2013.
Dr. Dave Perrin was also named the new assistant principal. He has taught English in Rochelle since 1994.
Harper expects an easy transition between the administration team since they have been in the district for several years.
Board president Tom Huddleston said that the district has hired their past superintendents who were already in the district. The board felt they already have great talent and there should be no disruptions as they go into the new school year in July.
