Americold in Rochelle is looking at expanding their cold storage facility in the Hub City.
Company officials brought a proposal involving a height variance and rezoning issue to the Rochelle Planning and Zoning Commission yesterday evening.
Americold General Manager, Dan Lundquist, said that the company is in the proposal phase of the project and are studying their options.
The addition at the Rochelle facility would be 180,000 square feet and also 140,000 feet tall or 13 stories high.
It would able to have an additional 53,000 pallet positions.
Lundquist said that the company is looking at 50 to 70 additional jobs.
The planning and zoning commission did recommend to city officials to approve the height variance and rezoning involving the project.
