Pavement work for 20th street in Rochelle will be completed by next month. City officials last night approved a bid of $187,600 for the project.
City Engineer Sam Tesreau said the work will be between 8th Avenue and Carrie Avenue. This will complete Phase 2 of the project.
Tesreau also said that the city had a savings in the work done when they went out for bids for Phase 1 and Phase 2. The city saved around $450,000. That money can be used for another street project in the city this year.
The paving of 20th Street will be done by June 30th.
Seal coating on city streets this summer will cost $122,100. Motor fuel tax money will be used to pay for the project.
The council established a social media policy for city employees in the future. They also approved the appraisals of multiple parcels of land involving the improvements for South Main Street. The 3.5 million dollars project will include the area between Steam Plant Road and the Steward Road intersection.
The city plans to purchase a variable frequency drive for water well 10 on Southview Drive due to the changing aquifer conditions.
City officials met behind closed doors to talk about personnel and possible litigation. No action was taken.
