Illinois Attorney General Lisa Madigan is joining 19 of her counterparts to demand an independent investigation of possible Russian meddling in the presidential election.
The attorneys general signed a letter sent today to deputy U.S. Attorney General Rod Rosenstein that calls the firing of FBI Director James Comey "a violation of public trust." The letter says only the naming of an independent special council can begin to restore public confidence.
