Byron teen pleads not guilty in sexual assault case

A Byron teen pled not guilty in Ogle County court yesterday in connection with an alleged sexual assault incident that took place last month.

19-year old Keinen Neubert has been charged with the Class 1 felony of predatory criminal sexual assault of a child.

Ogle County Sheriff's Police received word about the alleged incident on April 7th. They believe the altercation occurred about a week earlier in the Byron area.

Authorities say that Neubert knew the victim.

In court yesterday, probable cause was found on the Class 1 felony offense of predatory criminal sexual assault of a child. It was not found by the judge on the Class "X" felony charge for the same offense.

Neubert waived his preliminary hearing. He is now scheduled for a bond hearing on May 10th in Oregon.

Neubert remains in jail in lieu of a $300,000 bond.
