Park officials in Rochelle have made a change for the first time in 16 years in the coverage involving liability insurance.
During a special meeting yesterday evening, the board approved the proposal from PDRMA at a yearly premium of $32,000. This included worker's compensation.
The other proposal came from IPARKS which totaled over $73,000. The park district had been with IPARKS since 2001.
Executive Director Roger Bunger said that the difference in costs between the proposals was a major reason why the board decided on PDRMA.
He said the biggest difference in policies is the risk management with PDRMA. They will require safety policies and inspections of the parks and facilities. Bunger said they look forward to this idea so they can get better in certain programs in the future.
He stressed that the bottom line is safey for their facilities.
The liability coverage begins May 1st and ends on Decembier 31st of this year. This is a 3-year committment for the Flagg-Rochelle Community Park District. They can give a 1 year notice if they want to change companies.
The board also approved the legal retainer for fiscal year 2017-18 with Fearer, Nye, and Chadwick of Rochelle and Oregon at a cost of $12,100, the same figure as the last fiscal year. The law firm has represented the park district since 1966.
