During this week's Oregon school board meeting, they approved a bid for renovation work in the high school welding lab.
The district received a grant of $106,686 from the Community Foundation of Northern Illinois to build a state-of-the-art facilty.
The bid came in a $170,000. Superintendent Tom Mahoney said that the district will have a local cost of $65,000 for the project.
The lab will be used by students at Oregon High School and Highland Community College in Freeport along with local professionals for ongoing training. The new welding lab will be in operation this fall.
The professional food service intergovernmental agreement with the Rochelle Elementary School District was approved for the 2017-18 school year. It will be the 2nd year involving the food service.
New carpet will also be installed in 5 classrooms at Oregon High School at a cost not to exceed $30,000.
