A second Rochelle man has pled guilty following a burglary at a downtown business in the Hub City during the early morning hours of January 31st.
39-year old Joseph Simms was charged with the Class 2 felony offense of burglary.
A co-defendant in the break-in was 23-year old Casey Martin Jr. of Rochelle.
The burglary took place at the Off The Wall Cafe in the 400 block of Lincoln Highway. Entry was gained by forcing open a back door at the business.
A cash register with a small amount of money was stolen from the cafe.
Police were able to arrest Smith and Martin due to a video camera inside the business.
Smith was sentenced to 10 years in the Department of Corrections with 3 years mandatory supervised release. The jail sentence is stayed pending a successful completion of the Ogle County New Horizons drug court program. Simms will pay $1,500 for the drug court program and must comply to all terms and conditions.
Martin pled guilty on February 27th and was sentence to jail time and 2 years probation for the felony offense. He must also pay court costs
