The Rochelle Middle School was recently recognized as 1 of only 24 programs worldwide to earn the Program Excellance Award.
School officials received the recognition during the International Technology and Engineering Educator Association event in Dallas, Texas.
2 other school districts in Illinois, Barrington and Normal, also received the award.
The Program Excellance Award is one of the highest honors given to technology and engineering classroom programs on the elementary, middle, or high school levels. Schools from all over the United States and around the world compete for this award.
The Rochelle elementary district in 2015 received a grant of $100,000 from the Farmers Insurance "Dream Big Teacher Challenge" and $25,000 from the Monsanto fund's "America Farmers Grow Rural Education".
The money was used in several areas which included art, computer labs, industrial arts, along with math and reading intervention and the Steam Lab.
