Following an executive session last night, the Rochelle elementary board approved the administration and teachers for the next school year.
The rehiring list included principal and assistant superintendent for instruction and curriculum Adam Zurko along with principals Tony Doyle, Justin Adolph, Jennifer Derricks, and Rebecca Cox. Middle School assistant principal Rick Dornick was also rehired.
No teachers were cut who are currently in the classroom. Superintendent Todd Prusator said they go year by year on the number of teachers they need and can pay.
The district is looking to hire a new ELL person and a speech language pathologist.
The board also met behind closed doors to talk about the security in the buildings following a threating message found on February 24th on a bathroom stall at the Middle School. The student who wrote the threat has yet to be identified.
Prusator said they will continue to add new security measures for the district when needed.
The 2017-18 school calendar was approved last night. The first day for students in the classroom will be Monday, August 21st.
