The Rochelle Street Department has announced that the southbound lane of South Washington Street from First Avenue to the South 6th Street intersection will be closed for traffic while crews are on site today.
The work is necessary to repair a failing storm water discharge pipe. Work is expected to be completed by Friday afternoon at 4.
Motorists are advised to use an alternate route and avoid the area if possible. All South Washington Street southbound traffic coming from 1st Avenue will be detoured one block west to South 6th Street.
Advance warning, detour and other temporary traffic control devices will be posted near the affected area. Please use caution while traveling in this area and pay special attention to the advanced warning signage, Lane closed signage and other temporary traffic control devices within or in advance of the work zone. The city appreciates your patience during this project.
