Village officials in Creston met in monthly session last night with a few items on the agenda.
The board talked about the future of the landfill following an agreement reached with the City of Rochelle in April of 2008. It includes the digging up of Cell 1 and placing a liner to prevent any leakage.
Ogle County Solid Waste Management Director Steve Rypkema sent a letter to village officials saying that Waste Connections needs to honor their contract in work that needs to be done at the landfill in the future.
The board talked about property inspections as several home owners were notified last summer about cleaning up around their house. Very little has been done to correct the problem on some of the property.
Repairs are being made on the emergency generator for the village. The cost is expected to be less than $2,000.
