Illinois is broke, and looks to be getting broker. The legislature's Commission on Government Forecasting and Accountability yesterday said Illinois looks to be 657-million dollars off its budget expectations for the year.
Lawmakers say losing that much money will punch an even larger hole in the state's finances. Illinois hasn't seen a full budget in almost two years, and owes more than 12-billion dollars in unpaid bills because of it.
