Officials at Rock Valley College in Rockford are looking at the possibility of layoffs in staff in the near future.
The Board of Trustees expects to make a decision during their meeting on Tuesday involving who will lose their job this fall.
The layoffs would include both tenured and nontenured faculty members. Rock Valley College currently has a staff that totals 159 people.
College officials say that depending on enrollment figures, some staff members may be rehired. Under the union contract with the college professors and instructors, they must be notified at least 60 days before the end of the semester that they will be layed off.
The lack of state funds is 1 reason why the college may have to reduce their staff.
