Illinois Attorney General Lisa Madigan is pushing to have the state's hate crime law expanded, after hearing that there's been a spike of incidents targeting Jews and Muslims. Leaders from two dozen advocacy groups told Madigan during a Thursday summit that they're seeing an increase in hostility against Jews, Muslims, immigrants and members of the LGBTQ community since President Trump's election.
Madigan wants to add electronic harassment on social media to the list of actions that can be classified as a hate crime.
