Make it 3 in a row for a Polo grade school student as Rebekah Zeigler won yesterday's Lee, Ogle, and Whiteside County regional spelling bee event.
The 6th grade student from Aplington Middle School defeated 36 students from grade 5 through 8 who participated in the competition from the 3 area counties.
The spelling bee lasted 43 rounds.
For the third year in a row, Zeigler has won an all paid expense trip to the Scripps National Spelling Bee event which starts on May 28th in National Harbor, Maryland.
8th grade student Lydia Cermak of David L Rahn Junior High School in Mt. Morris finished in 2nd place.
