Illinois House Speaker Michael Madigan says lawmakers will consider Governor Rauner's plan to sell the glass-faced Thompson Center that houses state offices in the Loop. Rauner has said the building could net the state 200-million-dollars if it's sold to a developer.
The building was designed by Helmut Jahn and opened in 1985. While an attraction for tourists and visually striking, the building has proven expensive to heat, cool and maintain. It's not clear where the 22-hundred people who work there would be transferred.
