A Byron teen has received a sentence of 8 years in prison after he sexually assaulted a 13-year old boy last May. The altercation took place at the Nash Recreation Center in Oregon.
19-year old Robert Smith pled guilty last December to the Class "X" felony offense of predatory criminal sexual assault of a child.
Ogle County officials say that Swanson knew the boy.
He must complete 85% of the 8 year sentence in the Department of Corrections or 6 years and 8 months.
Once out of prison, Swanson will be on mandatory supervised release or also known as probation for no less than 3 years or possibly the remainder of his life.
The teen does have a prior felony conviction of aggravated battery to a police officer following an altercation in 2015.
