Through the first five weeks of 2017, more people are getting shot in Chicago than last year, but fewer are being killed. After a weekend when three people were killed and 18 others were wounded, the number of people shot this year is at least 349 -- 25 more than during the same period last year.
The number of homicides so far this year is at least 59, down from 74 during the first five weeks of 2016.
