After deliberating for just over 1 hour yesterday, an Ogle County jury found a 15-year old boy from Kings not guilty of armed robbery following an incident that took place last summer in Rochelle.
The teen had been charged with the Class "X" felony offense. Yesterday's trial was heard in juvenile court.
A local woman had informed Rochelle police on August 21st that she was robbed at gunpoint by 2 male juveniles. The hold up took place at a local hotel and apartment complex on North Main Street. No one suffered any injuries.
The 2 male juveniles apparently stole money from the victim's purse and some pills from a man who was also in the room.
Ogle County officials could not locate the woman to testify during the trial yesterday. The man did take the stand.
A mistrial was declared by an Ogle County judge on November 7th in this case after 4 jurors were chosen.
A co-defendant in the armed robbbery was a 17-year old Rochelle boy. He pled guilty in September and was sentenced to probation until he is 21 years old.
