Rockford police have release the name of man who attempted to rob a bank Friday afternoon.
34-year old Laurence Turner of Rockford was pronunced dead at the Alpine Bank in the 22 hundred block of Mulford Road after he was shot by a security guard.
Police say that Turner entered the bank and fired one shot into the ceiling. He then fired a shot at the guard who was not injured..
The guard returned fire and hit Turner.
Police say that there were no customers in the bank at the time of the shooting. No employees were hurt.
The incident remains under investigation by the Rockford Police Department.
