1 person is dead following the shooting of a suspected bank robber in Rockford yesterday afternoon.
The attempted robbery took place at the Alpine Bank in the 22 hundred block of North Mulford Road.
Police say that the armed man entered the bank and fired his gun at the celing and then at the security guard. The security guard returned fire and struck the suspect.
There were no customers inside of the bank when the shooting took place and no employees were injured.
The suspected bank robber was pronounced dead at the scene.
The attempted robbery is being investigated by Rockford police and the FBI.
