DeKalb County Sheriff's Police arrested an Aurora man early Sunday following a handgun incident.
30-year old Marcus McGill has been arrested on the charge of armed violence along with unlawful possession of a weapon and possession of a firearm by a felon.
The altercation began during a traffic stop in the 700 block of North Annie Glidden Road for an expired registration.
The deputy smelled cannabis coming from the vehicle and asked the driver and McGill, a passenger, to step out of the car.
McGill exited the vehicle and then ran east into the University Village located on North Annie Glidden Road.
The deputy chased McGill for around 200 yards and tased him in the back as he was reaching into his right side waistband.
Police found a .45 caliber semi-automatic handgun in a holster on the right hip of McGill.
The Aurora man was also charged with resisting arrest.
No one suffered any serious injuries from the confrontation.
