The Illinois Department of Children and Family Services is working to raise awareness about the dangers of child sex trafficking during the month of January. The department says it investigated one-hundred-43 calls to its hotline last year about children who are being forced into having sex for money.
The department urges people to know and report the signs of possible cases, including young people having bruises, being depressed or fearful, running away or suddenly having expensive clothing, jewelry, or new tattoos.
