Area residents were hit with the first winter snow yesterday as between 3 to 5 inches fell on the ground.
The snow was wet and there were few reports of drifting at this time with winds out of the south at 5 to 10 miles per hour.
Area police agencies were kept busy during the day as many vehicles traveled off the roadway into ditches or drivers crashing into each other.
There were no reports of any serious injuries.
Much of the snow may melt today with the high temperature in the upper 30's.
There was an electrical power outage for a period of time yesterday evening in the 600 block of Dennis Street in Rochelle. A tree limb apparently fell on some wires which caused a problem with a transformer at around 5:30.
