A group of Illinois House Democrats is going to court to force the state to issue their paychecks. They're challenging the decision by Governor Rauner's handpicked State Comptroller Leslie Munger to put the lawmakers' pay somewhere in the middle of the state's ten-billion-dollar stack of unpaid bills.
The lawmakers' suit claims that move was coercive and politically motivated. Munger is set to hand over the office Monday to her successful election opponent,Democrat Susana Mendoza, but it's not clear if Mendoza will reverse Munger's handling of those paychecks.
