Illinois farmers this year are right around the five-year average when it comes to harvesting their corn and soybean crops. The National Agriculture Statistics Service says farmers here have brought in 85-percent of the corn and 76-percent of the soybeans, compared with the five-year averages of 75-percent for corn and 77-percent for soybeans by now.
Last year at this time, farmers had harvested 91-percent of both corn and soybeans. Weather has been a little warmer and slightly wetter than average this year.
