City officials in Rochelle have decided that only a small portion of Brookside Drive will be closed off for parking. The area is on the east side of the street for 100 feet north of Route 38.
The original proposal also had no parking on the entire west side of Brookside Drive.
The council plans to vote on the change at their next meeting in November.
City officials heard a presentation dealing with rate increases for both water and water reclamation service. The average home would see an combined increase of $7.14 per month or 10.7 percent.
Mayor Chet Olson said he would like to see the increase phased in over a period of time.
The council took no action on the rate increase proposals last night.
The cost of service information for electric rates was tabled to a future meeting.
A roadway dedication agreement for Cherry Avenue and First Street was approved between the city and Patricia Burch. It includes roadway improvements and drainage easements when needed.
The council also met as a "Committe of the Whole" earlier in the evening to talk about the new fiscal year budget. No final decisions were made on the numbers. The new fiscal year begins January 1st of 2017 for the city.
