No charges will be filed against 2 Dixon police officers following shooting

Following an investigation done by the Illinois State Police, no charges will be filed against 2 police officers in Dixon following a shooting that took place on September 7th.

Lee County State's Attorney Anna Sacco-Miller said that the officers did nothing wrong during the altercation in the 800 block of West 3rd Street. Police shot 33-year old Justin Llanas as he held a knife to his girlfriend's throat. He survived the shooting and faces numerous charges that includes attempted murder, aggravated battery, and unlawful restraint.

Police first used a Taser on Llanas before he was shot in the abdomen, leg, and wrist.

Authorities say that the incident was captued on a police squad car's camera along with the Taser's camera.

The 2 police officers from Dixon were placed on paid administrative leave right after the shooting. They returned to work a few days later.
