For the 2nd time in the past 8 days, Cherry Valley Police are investigating a shooting that took place at the CherryVale Mall.
Police report that a man in a wheel chair was shot twice as he tried to get into his car Saturday afternoon. The injuries do not appear to be life threatening.
The shooting took place on the north side of the mall near the J.C. Penney entrance. Police believe the incident to be gang related.
The shots came from a car as the suspect is a black male in his 20's. The vehicle involved in the shooting was located a few hours later.
Additional police patrols will take place around the CherryVale Mall for the next few weeks. The mall did not close yesterday since the incident took place outside.
The first shooting occurred on September 30th involving 2 groups. Shots were fire outside the mall. No injuries were reported and no arrests have been made by police.
Police do not believe at this time that the 2 shootings at the mall are connected in some way.
