Ten people from the Rockford-based group "Friends of the Children" are in Haiti, helping people whose village was devastated by Hurricane Matthew.
Dr. John Underwood, an ER physician, organized the trip with his wife, Linda, who's a nurse. The couple reports they found homes in ruins, roads washed out and the clinic where they're working in La Montange flooded and lacking medicines and other supplies.
Members of the group are training local residents to administer first aid to people who can't reach the clinic.
