A Rochelle man was arrested early yesterday morning after he crashed the pick-up truck he was driving in an alcohol related incident.
Police say that 59-year old Robert Smith lost control of the truck at the intersection of Alpha and Steward Roads on the south side of Rochelle. The vehicle was located in a ditch as Smith had left the scene prior to police arriving at the location. The officer on the scene saw blood in the pick-up truck.
With the assistance from the Rochelle K-9 Unit, Smith was located a short time later hiding in a field. He was transported to Rochelle Community Hospital for treatment of cuts and bruises and then released.
Smith has been arrested on the charge of DUI along with leaving the scene of an accident, driving on a suspended license, and having no insurance.
Smith was also wanted on an Ogle County warrant for failure to appear in court on the original charge of criminal trespass to property.
He will appear in court on the charges at a later date.
