Due to confrontations between police agencies along with the public around the country, officers remain at high alert when they are on patrol.
The most recent shootings have taken place in North Carolina and Oklahoma.
Chicago has also had several cases involving police shootings.
During this week's program "Let The People Know", Rochelle Police Chief Eric Higby said that his officers remain at high alert while on patrol. He said that with the recent shootings around the country, the officer's awareness of possible trouble has increased.
Higby said that many times, the officer has been a direct target by an individual.
He also menttined that they are looking at additional training for his department in this area.
