A Rochelle woman was arrested yesterday afternoon following an altercation with police.
37-year old Edith Castaneda has been charged with the felony offense of aggravated battery to a police officer.
The arrests stems from a hit and run incident in the 400 block of North 8th Street near Central School.
Police say that Castaneda's car struck a parked vehicle along the street. She then drove away from the scene and parked at another location near the school.
After further investigation, Castaneda was arrested on the charge of DUI and leaving the scene of an accident. During the arrest, she allegedly punched and kicked the officer.
No one suffered any injuries from the confrontation. Castaneda was transported to the Ogle County jail with no bond set following the arrest. She will appear before a judge later today in Oregon.
