Residents in Rochelle have seen bales of hay at numerous businesses and even at schools recently.
The promotion is all part of "Hay Day" that will take place October 15th in Rochelle.
The family friendly fall event will feature a petting zone along with games for the kids. Food will also be served in the downtown area along with singer Tristan Bushman and the bluegrass band The Templetons.
During this week's program "Let The People Know", Rochelle Mayor Chet Olson talked about the fall event. He said there will be a contest for those who decorate the bales of hay.
The Statue of Liberty has been a big attraction for the city since it was placed along Route 38, just east of Caron Road.
Olson said that the bales of hay around town will be decorated within the next few weeks. Several have already been completed.
"Let The People Know" is heard on Wednesday afternoon at 12:30 on Newstalk 1060 and rebroadcast Saturday morning at 6 on Newstalk 1060 and Sunday morning at 6 on "The Coyote".
Next week's guest will be Rochelle Police Chief Eric Higby.
