Rochelle park officials held a ceremony yesterday for the 2 new bridges at Skare Park.
The RTHS Interact Club raised $16,500 for the project. The park district also spent $5,000 as the 2 bridges were installed in July.
Park District Executive Director Eric Christensen said that 2 new bridges are a big feature for the park since the former structures were over 30 years old. He said they now have a safe crossing of 2 waterways in the park
Christensen also said that the response from area residents have been very positive.
The bridges are located along the green trail at Skare Park. At the present time, there are 54 students who are involved with the Interact Club at RTHS.
Christensen also talked about other future projects for the park. They include the clean-up of brush from the tornado along with the planting of new trees.
The tornado hit Skare Park in April of 2015.
