Rochelle man sentenced to 10 years in prison in sexual abuse incident

A Rochelle man was sentenced to 10 years in the Department of Corrections Friday after he pled guilty to the Class 2 felony of aggravated criminal sexual abuse.

26-year old Jesse Wendel was arrested following an altercation that took place the morning of June 19th. The female victim was treated and released at Rochelle Community Hospital.

Both Wendel and the victim were located near the intersection of Illinois 251 and Route 38.

Wendel was also originally charged with 2 other counts of the Class 2 felony offense of aggravated criminal sexual abuse in the case. Those charges were dismissed by the state with the guilty plea.

All fines and court costs were also waived by the state. Wendel was also sentenced to mandatory supervised release for 2 years once his prison term is completed.
