A letter of intent was approved last night by park officials in Rochelle for a restoration project dealing with Deer Creek that travels through Skare Park.
The mitigation program deals with the Quad Cities Airport.
Tom Huddleston of Rochelle said that the project would bring the creek back to its original route. There would be no money used from the park district.
The grant would come from the Army Corp of Engineers. It could total $200,000 for the park district and between 35 to 40 thousand dollars for Rochelle Township High School.
The money would go to the Science Department as the students would monitor the stream at the park.
It would take about a year to complete the construction of the creek if the project is approved.
