A Freeport woman escaped serious injuries yesterday afternoon after she crashed her car at Route 64 and I-39 in Ogle County.
Sheriff's police say that 83-year old Janice Winebrenner was traveling west on Route 64 when she fell asleep behind the wheel.
Her car entered the north ditch and struck a culvert. The vehicle then flipped over before coming to rest on its roof.
Winebrenner was transported by ambulance to Rochelle Community Hospital with non-life threatening injuries. The accident remains under investigation.
