A meeting is expected to take place later this month dealing with the future of the Hickory Grove Banquet and Conference Center in Rochelle. The facility is located just north of the intersection of Illinois 251 and Route 38.
At the present time, Abraham's Bar and Grille along with Rochelle Swim and Fitness use the facility. There are also meeting rooms for events.
During this week's program "Let The People Know", Rochelle Mayor Chet Olson said that they need to have a meeting to talk about the future of the Civic Center. This would include city and county officials along with OCCA and the 2 businesses.
The group needs to make a decision if work will be done on the building in the future.
Olson knows it will take several millions dollars to upgrade the banquet and conference center following an engineering study that was done.
"Let The People Know" is heard on Wednesday afternoon at 12:30 on Newstalk 1060 and rebroadcast Saturday morning at 6 on Newstalk 1060 and Sunday morning at 6 on "The Coyote".
Next week's guest will be Kim Montgomery, Executive Director of the Rochelle Area Community Foundation.
