Backers of a constitutional amendment to create an independent commission to draw political boundaries appear to have enough signatures to bring the idea to the November ballot. The State Board of Elections says the Independent Map Amendment likely has more than the minimum two-hundred-90-thousand petition signatures.
A lawsuit filed in Cook County seeks to block the referendum, though, and oral arguments in that case are expected June 30th.
