A group of Exelon supporters is pushing legislation they believe will help keep two Illinois nuclear power plants open. Hundreds gathered for a rally yesterday inside the state Capitol. The energy provider says the "Next Generation Energy Plan" needs to be approved in order to prevent the closure of plants in Clinton and near the Quad-Cities.
The measure would extend subsidies similar to those given to the wind and solar power industries.
Nearly 100 employees of the Byron nuclear power plant took part in the rally yesterday in Springfield.
