With 8 days to go in the regular legislative session, Governor Rauner and the Republican leadership called for a bipartisan compromise on a balanced budget. But they also backed Rauner's demand that at least some of his reform agenda items be included.
It's the same pitch Rauner's been making for the past several weeks around the state, blasting Democratic House Speaker Michael Madigan while claiming Democrats secretly support some of his pro-business, anti-union reform ideas.
Republican leaders nodded, as Rauner repeated that he will not agree to any new revenue without reforms.
