Rock Falls Police Officer Veronica Jaramillo is out of jail on bond after walking into a Whiteside County courtroom yesterday in a prisoner's jumpsuit.
Prosecutors say Jaramillo stole a little more than 17-hundred dollars from the evidence vault at the police department. They say she paid a utility bill with the money. Jaramillo is facing theft and misconduct charges. The Illinois State Police is handling the investigation.
Jaramillo, a detective in the Rock Falls Police Department, has been placed on administrative leave.
