A Byron police officer suffered a leg injury last night following a 2-vehicle crash.
The accident took place a short time before midnight at the intersection of Blackhawk Drive and 2nd Street in Byron.
Reports indicate that a squad car driven by officer Doug Hendrickson was traveling west on Blackhawk Drive when it was struck by a pick-up truck driven by 39-year old Jeremy Hale of Byron who was turning left onto Blackhawk Drive from 2nd Street.
Hendrickson was transported by ambulance to a Rockford Hospital for treatment of the leg injury.
Hale and a passenger in the truck were not injured.
The accident remains under investigation by Ogle County Sheriff's Police.
