Hillcrest board meeting

Village officials in Hillcrest heard an update report last night on the sanitary sewer project in the community.

Work is being done on River Road and Ramona Avenue as 31 homes have hooked-up to the system. 25 are covered under the state grant.

The village plans to put together a sheet in the near future for residents as there has been many questions about the project. Board President Steve Dodson said that they are concerned about the cost for their home along with street and landscaping work.

The board approved 118,500 last night for the paving work on the streets. The landscape restoration should be done this month.

Dodson said that the cost will vary with each home.

The sales tax ordinance was approved. Voters in March approved the increase from 6.25% to 6.75%. It begins on July 1st for businesses in Hillcrest.

No action was taken by the board last night on an increase of trustee compensation or the late fee for water service. Each village official receives $200 per month.

There will also be a 4-way stop at the intersection of Ramona Avenue and Wayne Road in the near future. At the present time, traffic on Ramona Avenue does not stop.
